Sandra Thompson

Sandra is founder and principal of Zaga Design Group, bringing over 25 years of multifaceted experience in Colorado’s Front Range to the firm’s projects. In addition to her portfolio of myriad project types, including residential, multifamily, and commercial, Sandra has Facilities Management expertise, versatile connections, and an extensive history of coordination with the full range of engineering services. Sandra handles day-to-day management of all planning efforts and oversees conceptual design by Zaga Design Group.
A licensed architect in the State of Colorado, Sandra received her Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Sandra is a small firm advocate, a member of the American Institute of Architects and NCARB and BDTA certified. Zaga Design Group is nationally certified by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). Zaga is also a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) in Denver, and Sandra is DEN BDTA certified.
In 2023, Sandra joined the Board of Directors for NIVAS, a Denver based non-profit focused on helping marginalized women-led families in rural Asia. She is a member of the Highland Merchants Association, previously serving as HMA Chair for two years. She welcomes opportunities for community event sponsorship through Zaga Design Group, including the Jewel of Highlands Home Tour and corporate sponsorship of Wheat Ridge High School. Most recently, Zaga became a Platinum Sponsor for the NIVAS International Women’s Day Campaign, matching donations to raise money for women-led families in Nepal on their journey to end homelessness for their families.
